Asian Handicap -1.5 Explained — Must Win by Two Goals

Asian Handicap -1.5 removes one and a half goals from your team's score. Your team must win by two or more goals for your bet to win. There is no push — if they win by exactly one goal you lose. This is a high-risk, high-reward handicap used when backing dominant favorites in one-sided fixtures.

How Does Asian Handicap -1.5 Work?

1.5 goals are deducted from your team's score. If they win 2-0, adjusted score is 0.5-0, you win. If they win 1-0, adjusted score is -0.5-0, you lose. If they win 3-1, adjusted score is 1.5-1, you win. Because it's a half goal handicap there's no push.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Asian Handicap -1.5 mean?

Your team must win by two or more goals. A one-goal win, a draw, or any loss all result in a lost bet.

What happens if my team wins 1-0 on -1.5?

You lose the bet. -1.5 requires a margin of at least two goals, so a one-goal win is not sufficient.

Why are the odds higher on -1.5 compared to -0.5?

Because the requirement is harder — your team needs to win by more. Bookmakers offer better odds to compensate for the lower probability of winning the bet.

When should I use -1.5?

Use -1.5 when you are very confident a team will win convincingly, for example a top team playing at home against a relegated or significantly weaker opponent.
